Offered here is an extremely rare type of refill by Montblanc, which we call "the problem solver", produced in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This refill attempted to solve the problem with Montblanc transitioning from its "Giant Type" proprietary Montblanc refills, to the SI ISO 12757 refills.

This refill without the adapter is basically the currently offered and current standard Montblanc Ballpoint pen refill. However, with the adapter, it extends so it can be used on most vintage Montblanc pens from the 1960s onwards, such as those "Eleventh Finger" lever ballpoint pens using the Long size Giant Refill. The adapter can also be fitted on any new ISO 12757 Montblanc refill, and used on those 1960s pens, offering a simply perfect and easy solution.

To make things even more complicated, in the 1960s there were two types of "Giant Refill", the Long and Short size. This Univerzal refill is designed to work with both.

These refills were produced only in that few year transitional period and are not in production any longer. They solve a big problem as the adapter makes any new Montblanc ballpoint pen refill fit on those vintage pens. We were fortunate to source only a few of these from an out of business pen boutique.
