A truly rare vintage writing instrument, preserved in very good aesthetic condition, and restored to a full working capacity.

Waterman's Patrician series was introduced in 1929, and it was meant to compete at the higher end of the market against the very successful Parker Duofold.

As such, it was an oversize fountain pen, with a large gold nib, a lever filling system, and it was made available in a series of impressive colors. The Patrician was Waterman’s first series to receive a model name instead of a number, and one of the earliest pens on which Waterman utilized plastics.

From the globe medallion set into the back end of the barrel to the pierced band and the stylized clip, the Patrician’s design is high Art Deco. It features a particularly large decorated gold nib, while the venerable lever received a restyling to look more modern.

Today the Patrician, due to its rarity and beauty, is among the most collectible of Waterman’s pen models — so much so that from 1992 to 1994 Waterman produced a “Patrician” version of its popular Man 100 model.

The fountain pen listed here is a vintage preowned pen, with indicative release date of 1929. It shows light signs of wear on its parts, the most important of which is some mild brassing on its metal parts. Note that the lever, and the clip of the pen listed here are engraved with the original owner's name.

All parts of the pen seem to be working well, with the nib delivering a nice and wet italic line.

The original box of this pen is not available, and it will be packed in a more modern Waterman gift box for safety during transportation.
